A call to the Readership

What is the essence of iQ? How would you define the community, the system and/or the principles? How could the problems students and staff deal with be solved? (Falling behind, lack of communication/interest in events, connectivity between students, etc.) Most important, what should we as students focus on to make our unique school as good as it can be, for us and those to follow down the long and winding road of virtual education?

We at the Student Blog would like to hear from you! Post your comments (or email them if you'd rather,) and make yourself heard.

Communication is the key word as far as I'm concerned. Events aren't advertised well enough, and when events are planned they tend to feel like they were slapped together at the last minute (I'm not saying all events are like that, just the ones I've tried going on). They need to 1. send out a calendar every month/two months/semester telling everyone what events are happening where at what time, with detailed descriptions of plans, costs, and the like. 2. Make sure that they stick with those plans 3. send out mass emails reminding people of events as they approach.

The forums need to be overhauled. Basically, they need to be consistent: all one font and color for the headings, no inappropriate punctuation in the descriptions, mass emails should be sent out periodically reminding students that they are there.

They need to figure out some sort of reward system for people staying on or getting ahead of pace. Since it's close to impossible to punish people for getting behind, maybe getting a reward for getting ahead would be enough incentive to get some people motivated.
